    New Park Childcare Hub Information

New Park Primary School is now a Childcare Hub for key workers.

Please check the criteria carefully to ensure that you qualify as a key worker. If you have an adult at home even if you are a key worker your child must stay at home.

If you qualify for a place in a hub we are open on Monday 23 March from 9am to 4pm prompt.

If you are planning to bring your child/ren to us please understand and be prepared for the following:

    - when you arrive at school for the first time you will be required to complete a registration form which includes contact details, emergency contacts, medical info, allergies, dietary info, SEND needs etc. If your child currently attends New Park or Roscoe you will still be required to complete a form.  BE AWARE THIS COULD TAKE TIME ON MONDAY.

    - your child needs to come in their own clothes with suitable coats to go outside.

    - children are not permitted to bring any electronic equipment or mobile phones.

    - children will have the opportunity to have breakfast on arrival at 9am if they wish.

    - Provide your child with a packed lunch but on Monday 23rd March all children who attend will get a free hot meal.

    - your child will be in a childcare environment, they will be playing games, doing craft activities, being outside etc. This is not an educational environment.

    - your child needs to follow and respond to the Hub's behaviour guidance; as it would be in the school they are currently enrolled in. The setting has the right to refuse entry to any child who does not follow the expectations of the Hub.

    - parents will be asked to wait in a designated collection area when dropping off and collecting from the Hub to ensure the health of the staff.

    - any child who is unwell will be isolated and sent home as quickly as possible.

We will be receiving an update from the Local Authority on a daily basis in response to local and national guidance. This will be updated on this page.

Key Worker Information – Please Read

    Dear Parents and Carers,

    Guidance for schools remaining open:

The guidance is clear “if children can stay safely at home, they should”

My view as your headteacher, based on the guidance, is that all parents should endeavour to keep their children at home safely. The fewer children making the journey to school, and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread across Kensington and the wider Liverpool community.

Outside of school, parents should do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way that they can continue to spread the virus.  If your work is critical for the COVID-19 response or you work in one of the critical sectors, our Academy staff are committed to providing childcare while you are at work.

In summary, the scientific guidance is clear - the fewer children we have in school each day, the greater chance we have of limiting the risk of the virus spreading.

These are testing times and it is our civic and moral duty to keep our community safe, whilst at the same time keeping our critical services operating.

I will continue to keep you updated as and when I have further information directly from the government.

Thank you for your patience at this challenging time.  Please keep safe and look after each other.  I will be available throughout this time.

    Kind Regards,

    Karen Hutchings

  • Hubs for Childcare for Key Workers

    Fri 20 Mar 2020

The Hubs that will be providing childcare for key workers will be open from Monday 23rd March at 9am.  Parents of primary school children who are eligible are asked to take their child to their nearest site.  Please see liverpool.gov.uk/childcarehubs for details of these.

  • School Closure

    Wed 18 Mar 2020

Firstly, I would like to thank you all for your continued support at this very tricky time.  Your ongoing support is very much appreciated.

We have been closely monitoring staffing levels due to self isolation and government guidance.   New guidance around adults with chronic health conditions has meant that we have had to send an extremely large number of staff home.

Unfortunately, staffing levels are now untenable as we are now unable to man the school safely.  As a result, I have made the decision, along with our Chair of Trust, to close Roscoe Primary School.  This is not a decision we have made lightly but safety of our children is paramount.

Please see our website and/or Twitter for updates.  The school building will be open tomorrow from 9.00am, not for children but for any adults who wish to come and collect work for their children.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • COVID 17th March Letter home to Parents

    Tue 17 Mar 2020

    17th March 2020

    Dear Parents,

I am again writing to you in relation to the extraordinary position that we find ourselves in, due to COVID-19.

As you know the Prime Minister is giving daily updates on the Pandemic, this means that we may be reacting to these updates and issuing new advice and information as this evolves.

As a school, we are affected by falling staff numbers as staff are forced to self isolate because their children, themselves or another family member are forced to self isolate due to a cough or a fever . These falling staff levels mean that some activities will need to be changed or cancelled.

    1. From today there will be no extra curricular activities after school; we need to be sure that we have the right number of staff to cover these clubs and this is not possible at the moment.
    2. It may be that we need to cancel the end of day after school club if staff numbers continue to fall.
    3. Children will no longer be lining up in the mornings before school and will be to enter school from 8.45am to 8.55am, if they don’t attend breakfast club.
    4. Parents are no longer entering the school building to act upon the “social distancing “ advice given by central government. I ask that you just drop off and pick up your children from school swiftly.
    5. All non-essential meetings will be cancelled, as will visitors to the school.

We are currently working hard to minimise the impact of the pandemic on learning; soon work will be available for those children who have needed to self isolate. This work will be in the form of packs and on class pages on the school website. As you will appreciate this is taking some time.

We are also working hard to produce activities should the government make the decision to close schools or indeed staffing levels become too low to keep the school open safely.

THIS IS A DIFFICULT SITUATION FOR ALL AND AN UNPRECEDENTED STATE OF AFFAIRS . I WOULD THEREFORE LIKE TO THANK ALL PARENTS WHO HAVE ACTED IN A SUPPORTIVE MANNER AND ACTED ACCORDING TO GOVERNMENT ADVICE.

HOWEVER, I MUST STRESS THAT PARENTS MUST NOT COME TO SCHOOL AND VENT THEIR FRUSTRATIONS AT STAFF, WE APPRECIATE THAT THIS IS A VERY STRESSFUL TIME FOR ALL. WE ARE MERELY ACTING UPON THE ADVICE GIVEN TO US DIRECTLY BY DFE, LOCAL AUTHORITY, THE PRIME MINISTER AND HIS ADVISORS.

    Kindest Regards

    Karen Hutchings
