Year 6 - Mrs Blackwell: Class Page for Work and Activities

Hello Year 6!

I really hope you're enjoying your time at home and you're on your best behaviour!

This page will be regularly updated with learning ideas for you to try at home.

Maths

Try to complete one to two maths pages a day - these can be from your Maths No Problem book or from your CGP books. If you are really stuck with any learning, the please drop me a message on twitter @roscoeprimary34

Maths can also be working out change for the shop, working out ratio and proportion for a recipe, figuring out the percentage change in an amount. I will attach some gold and platinum daily challenges below (with answers).

If you fancy some online learning, then visit http://www.iseemaths.com/home-lessons/ where Gareth Metcalfe will be delivering some lessons live in your home!

Carol Vorderman - a maths whizz from my younger years - is allowing free access to her Maths Factor website. This is normally £2 a week! Click here https://www.themathsfactor.com/

Reading

I know I am incredibly lucky, as you guys LOVE reading. Please send at LEAST 15 minutes reading per day. Try to choose books that challenge you (books where you have to find out what particular words means etc).

David Walliams is fun to read, but he isn't challenging enough for you lot!

If you are lucky enough to get a new book bought for you, take a look at this list for year 6 appropriate books (click here). Tag me on Twitter. Also, don't forget that your Liverpool Library card works online and you can digitally rent ebooks or audio books - I'm listening to Neil Gaiman The Graveyard Book.

SPAG

Please complete one SPAG activity per day; use your CGP book. When you have completed this, access the SPAG resources below. You have worked so hard on your SPAG this year-keep up the good work at home.

Look around you for SPAG errors. So many people get SPAG wrong! See if you can find a comma put in the wrong place, or an apostrophe without contraction or possession.

History/Geography

Our History topic this half term is Local History the significance of a key person in local history. See below for some ideas.

Our Geography topic this half term is Rivers. See below for some ideas.

This work can be completed on your iPad or device and presented any way you like! It can be a double page spread (remember when we did these for the trenches?) or it could be a little movie about the topic. It's up to you! Remember to tag me on Twitter or send me a DM.

Please limit your time on Tik Tok - you'll do yourself an injury with all the twitching you do! (Not that you should be on there anyway!)

Parents/carers - please do not stress about 'teaching' your child at home. Use this time to spend precious time with your child. It will soon be time for them to go to High School and they'll do a lot of learning then!
