It's Summer Term!
Where has this year gone? It is already summer term and what a fantastic year we have had so far.
This term we have lots pf fun topics coming up including map skills in geography, significant individuals in history, and animals including humans, in Science. We will be looking at net skills in PE and learning how to play soft ball!
We will be continuing to progress with our reading skills with many more exciting texts and carrying on with Jane Considine skills in writing. The children have made so much progress with their creative writing this year. I am a super, proud teacher!
In Maths we will be starting to learn time, how exciting! We will also be continuing to improve our arithmetic skills, which is another skill our amazing year 2's have made excellent progress with this year.
Homework and spelling will still be given out on a Monday, starting 29th April and collected in on Friday. PE will be on Thursday. To support your child's learning please remember to read with them for 10 minutes per day and remind them to bring in their reading book every day.
Thank you for your support in your child's learning. If you need to speak to me about anything please don't hesitate to catch me before or after school or contact the office to make an appointment.
Thank you once again.
Dear Parents and carers,
Welcome to Spring 1! We can hardly believe it is spring term already. We had a fun filled Autumn term with plenty of learning and I can hardly wait to get stuck in to spring.
During spring 1 the children will have lots and lots of fun and exciting learning ahead of them. We will be soon starting a new class read by Roald Dahl, called The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me. This book will provide a fun way of revising reading, listening and comprehension skills. Phonics will be a part of every day learning for all children using our fantastic new phonics scheme 'Letters and Sounds.' We will be finding fun and exciting ways to revise some important Maths topics using the four operations, whilst continuing to work on the Maths No Problem scheme which the children really enjoy.
In science the children will be looking at plants and how they grow. This will involve the children planting their very own seeds! The children will be able to watch the seeds grow from seedlings into flowers, which will be lovely.
Spring term is packed full of learning opportunities. If you have any questions about Spring term please don't hesitate to ask, myself, Mrs Fearon or Mrs Backhouse.
PE is on Tuesday. Homework and spellings given out on Monday to be back on Friday please.
Spelling test on Friday.
If you could remember to read with your child every night for 10 minutes and send their reading book in every day that would be a big help!
We thank you for your continued support in your child's learning
Year 2 Class Teacher
Dear Children, Parents and Carers,
I am delighted to welcome you all to year 2K! My name is Miss Kenyon and I am the class teacher. In our classroom we also have 2 other fantastic adults, Mrs Fearon and Miss Backhouse.
We have lots of fantastic learning lined up for the chidlren in Autumn Term. We have just started a wonderful book in Literacy called Rascally Cakes all about Rufus Skumskins who loves revolting food! The chidlren will be doing their first story of the year all about this book and also a fantastic lesson making cakes. This fits in with the title of our term is 'Muck, Mess and Mixtures!'
Maths this term is all about place value and we will be carrying on with the scheme of Singapore Maths with was hugely successful last year and very popular with the children.
I'd like to invite you all to meet the teacher on Thursday 20th September at 2018, which will give you a wonderful insight into your childs school week and also give you the opportuity to ask any questions.
In the meantime if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
I look forward to meeting you all and a successful year with your wonderful children!
