Lady Bird Learning

This week in nursery ‘what the ladybird heard’ inspired maths and the children even had some ladybugs learning in the sun! Recognising numbers and representing numbers.

Super Sandwich Makers

Year 1 have been practising their English skills by writing instructions on how to make a sandwich. This led to a discussion about what each child liked on their sandwiches and there were lots of different choices throughout the class! Hopefully they will be able to help you make sandwiches next time!

Butterfly Time

Each class were given caterpillars to nuture and observe the change to butterflies to celebrate the opening of our butterfly forest. So far, Year 5 are the first class to have a butterfly! We cannot wait to release them all in our butterfly forest.

Eid

Reception had a very special visitor! Mohamed’s mum very kindly came in to help him tell them about how his family marked Ramadan and celebrate eid. They looked at the special clothes he wears when going to the mosque and the prayer mat he takes with him. They then enjoyed some dates for snacks, which are used each evening to break fasting during Ramadan. It was a fantastic experience for the children. To all our families celebrating eid, may this joyous occasion bring you immense happiness, peace and prosperity. Eid mubarak!

Hard Workers

Year 6 have been working super hard this week preparing for their SATs which are due to take place the week beginning 12th May. We are so proud of all their hard work!

Slates of Matter - Chocolate

This week in Year 4, the children have been melting chocolate! This is all part of their topic, 'states of matter.' They melted the chocolate in different ways; in a bowl of warm water, rubbing it with their hands whilst it was in a zip-lock bag, over a cup of warm water and directly in warm water. They then measured the temperature of the chocolate once melted. You would have mistaken their class for a chocolate science lab if you had walked in! They wrote down their findings and compared findings as a class.
