PE

PE lessons will take place on Thursday afternoons.

The children will need to bring in suitable clothing and footwear for indoor lessons.

Children should ensure that they have their water bottles on this day.

Daily Homework

Reading.

It is important for your child to read a few pages each night as this has a huge effect on their confidence and progress in all other areas. Where possible, please ensure that your child's reading record is signed on a daily basis as they will be rewarded with dojos. We allow children in Year 6 to sign their own reading diaries if nobody at home can do so.

Weekly Homework

Spellings.

On Wednesday's children will be given a range of spellings from the expected words lists and words to assist the learning of general spelling rules. They will then be tested on the following Wednesday.

Times Tables.

It is vital that the children know their times tables as these impact on everything we do wishing lessons involving maths. Please ensure that your child practices their times tables regularly, as they will be tested on these twice a week.

SPaG Homework.

With the SATs in May, children will be given SPaG homework every week in the form of a CGP Revision Guide and workbook. This will be given on a Tuesday and due in on a Friday.

Maths Homework.

To help with their SATs, the children will also have weekly Maths homework again in the form of a CGP Revision guide and workbook. This will be given on a Friday and due in on a Tuesday.

For the first half term we will be continuing our work on the Ancient Greeks, we will be looking at many different aspects of this Ancient Civilisation including:

What it was like to live during this era.

The achievements of the Ancient Greeks.

Greek Wars

The beliefs of the Ancient Greeks.

The role of the theatre in the way of life of the Greeks.

The influences of the Ancient Greeks on modern life.

Greek Gods and mythology.

To continue with our topic of the Ancient Greeks we will be reading Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and basing our comprehension work around this novel.

When it comes to Geography we will be focusing on the Americas, looking at both North and South America and how their cultures may differ.
